Summary

The Demand Planner is responsible for analyzing market trends, forecasting demand, and optimizing inventory levels. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role. 

  • Developing effective forecast models
  • Supporting risk assessments and mitigation
  • Communication and reporting
  • Monthly forecast maintenance
  • Addressing demand-related issues
  • Supply chain alignment

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to gather insights on promotional activities, market dynamics and customer preferences
  • Analyze sales, stock, and other relevant statistics.
  • Awareness of overall business goals, expansion plans, and new market introductions which may influence demand planning decisions

Forecasting and Modeling:

  • Understand existing inventory levels, stock availability and lead times is essential for effective demand planning.
  • Review historical sales trends to identify patterns and seasonality.

External Factors Consideration:

  • Take into account external occurrences (e.g., promotions, production delays) that could impact demand.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to understand promotional activities and their effect on demand.
  • Attend and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Supply Chain Alignment:

  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to align demand forecasts with production and inventory strategies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on production capacity, shipping timelines and fulfillment capabilities.
  • Any other related duties

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Statics, Information Management, Data Analytics, or any other related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating in the capacity of a demand planner role
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software (Microsoft Power BI, Advanced Excel, etc.)
  • Forecasting certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as MS SQL and Phyton would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with ERP software would be an asset.
  • Strong Data Analytical skills.
  • Proven experience working with Forecasting Models and Analysis Techniques
